OsEAN – Student Exchange: GREGORINI Matteo
Hi, I’m Matteo,
I’m 22 and I’m from Italy. I’m studying osteopathy in AIMO (Saronno, Italy).
I was in CEESO Lyon from 7th to 11th of January 2020.
I want to thank the CEESO Lyon for the opportunity i was given, and Mrs Vienot and Mr Netsah for their help.
At the beginning it was difficult to talk and keep in touch with the students, probably because we did not know each other or they were not confortable with speaking in English, but after the first day it was a little easier to talk with them. After 2 nights spent in the hostel, a very nice student invited me to stay at her place, so i lived 2 days closer to Lyon’s lifestyle.
It was a great experience, i had the opportunity to do observations in the clinic despite the little knowledge of French i was able to see a different approach.
I saw more clinic reasoning and less but specific technique.
I saw that tutor give more “freedom” to students and don’t always go to check the treatment but this is the student that goes to talk with the tutor. During the anamnesis i saw less care on remote history and not all the time blood pressure was taken. Treatment is planned on less visits than we usually do in our academy and more time between one treatment and one other, while we usually take 1 week.
I took part at theoretical and practical lessons and i saw many things, such as more osteopathic integration (between the sistems) already from the 2nd year, more practice based on objective exam, great importance given to spine always tested even when the symptom is far from it.
I saw the research of a stadardized approach, probably different from us because we are not recognized, that can be good for the law but I dont’t know if it’s the same for the patients.
I think it’s very important to stay away to see different approaches and i suggested this experienc to all my class mate.
